Dear Students,
I appreciate your interest in doing B.Ed. and choosing Shimla College of Education, Shimla Bye-Pass, Sanjauli, Shimla-6, I extend a warm welcome to you in the college.
During the last few years, an unprecedemed explosion has taken place in major areas of knowledge and technology. Such developments will have a great impact on education system and its contents, objectives and methodology. The education system developed to serve the needs of an agrarian and industrial society is now expected to serve the new needs of a cybernetic society. In this fast changing scenario, the role of education and educational institute has to be redefined and restated.
It is a well accepted and recognized fact that quality of life in a society depends upon the quality of education it imparts which in turn depends upon the quality of teachers it produce. The very opening sentence of the education commission (1964-66) highlights the most eminent role of teachers in shaping the country destiny:
"The destiny of India is now being shaped in her class rooms. This, we believe, is no more rhetoric."
B.Ed. college like ours plays a crucial role in producing good teachers. All out efforts would be made for the successful conduct of B.Ed. course in an excellent manner. For this purpose, execution of a chart of programs and activities would be organized during the session. In addition, practice and processes would be followed in the college which will make the Teacher Education Program an experience building program instead of merely being a degree earning program. May God Bless us all in the pursuit of Education.
